Buzz for Education ?
Having recently purchased a PS3 Buzz was an essential purchase for family quiz nights. Buzz developed by Relentless Software now offers a whole new dimension with the additional PSN (Playstation Network). Buzz!: Quiz TV gives you instant access to almost any subject you can think of, and will be supported by vast downloadable and user-generated content. If there was ever a time to pick up Buzz!’s famous quiz show buzzer controllers, this is it.
The standard Buzz kit comes with the most up to date version of the game and four bluetooth wireless quiz controllers. Buzz is both fun and highly addictive even in the hours we have played we are yet to same question appearing on screen. Unlike most other console games Buzz allows users to create their own mini quizzes via the MyBuzzQuizz site.
You can browse the current quizzes available and add them to your PSN playlist making them available on your PS3. There are already a number of education focused games on there from biology to maths all at various key stage levels.

Creating your own quiz is also very easy. Simply enter the question, tell mybuzz the correct answer and supply a number of wrong answers. Better again the PS3 will throw the answers up on screen in a different order each time.
Theoretically the MyBuzz system could be used in class at the end of a unit of better teachers could create a bank of quizzes and share them with their students over the PSN Network. Better still the games can also be played on the website for even greater access opportunities.
A Key stage 1 and 2 version of the game was available for PS2 so lets hope we see school based versions of Buzz for the PS3 sometime soon.
Although the PS3 is expensive the MyBuzz game is, in my opinion a bit of a bargain at just under £40 including the full game as well as the controllers.
If you have created any education focused games on the mybuzz network then do please let us know in the comments.
