The Queen’s Film Theatre are running a series of special Sunday afternoon events for families on the topic of ‘transformation’. The programme offers families to transform Sunday afternoon with a pair of free tickets to see Stand by Me, Juno or Son of Rambow this Spring at the Belfast Theatre.

The children’s charity Action for Children is holding special free screenings at QFT on the first Sunday of every month for the next three months.

Each film has been chosen because they show how children and young people are transformed by their experiences, and how essential it is that they get the support they need. The event kicks off with one of my favourite films I watched whilst growing up ‘Stand by me’ based on the Stephen King book ‘The Body’. (view the trailer on YouTube)

It’s an approach Action for Children puts into practise every day, and by being there for as long as it takes the charity has managed to help hundreds of thousands of the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people over the last 140 years.

The season begins with the Rob Reiner classic Stand By Me at 12pm on Sunday 1 March and will be followed by Juno on Sunday 5 April and Son of Rambow on Sunday 3 May.
