cm.pngAre you aged between 13 and 18 and looking for an opportunity to let your acting talent shine through? If so, a three-day intensive masterclass called Cinemagic Stars is offering budding starlets the perfect opportunity to learn from leading industry professionals.

Running in The Grand Opera House and The Waterfront Hall from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 November young people from across Northern Ireland are being given the opportunity of participating in acting workshops on Contemporary or Musical Theatre. The initiative is part of this year’s Coca- Cola Cinemagic Film and Television for Young People (16 November – 2 December, www.cinemagic.org.uk)

Joan Burney-Keatings, Chief Executive, Cinemagic discusses the event and encourages young people to get involved:“After the huge success of Cinemagic Stars last year, we are delighted that industry professionals Suranne Jones (Vincent, Coronation Street), Mikyla Dodd (Hollyoaks), Chris Hoyle (The Royal) and Musical Director Lee Bryn Heywood are returning to Belfast to lead the groups of young people in different acting disciplines.”

Joan adds: “Participants will be assigned the task of staging a production within 72 hours. This is quite a challenge, as the young people won’t have worked together previously. However, the situation is reflective of the pressures faced when working as an actor. Team work will also be required if the groups are to achieve the task of staging an end production to an audience of family and friends.”

To apply simply explain in no more than 200 words why you think you deserve a place on the masterclass of your choice, whether it is Contemporary or Musical Theatre Acting. Include your name, age, address, phone number, email address and your college/university’s name, address and phone number if applicable.

Entries should be sent to Cinemagic Stars, Cinemagic, 49 Botanic Avenue, Belfast, BT7 1JL or email Laura@cinemagic.org.uk. Closing date for entries is Friday 26 October 2007.

The 3-day masterclass costs £40 per person. Do not include payment with the initial application. Successful applicants will be contacted directly about payment and other details.
