Cinemagic is a Belfast based film charity that embraces the magic of film, television and digital technologies to educate, motivate and inspire young people through the medium of workshops, film screenings and industry led masterclasses. Established in 1989, Cinemagic has developed a worldwide reputation for excellence in children’s programming and is currently the largest film event for young people in the UK and Ireland, attracting over 20, 000 people annually.
This year’s festival will run from from 16th November to 2nd December 2007. Designed for and by young people, Cinemagic caters for young people (from 4 to 25) with just about every level of interest in film – whether they want to watch and enjoy, create their own work or take things one stage further and find out more about a possible career in the film or television industry. The 17 day festival includes international film screenings, big movie premieres, special guests, discussions, competitions and masterclasses in all aspects of filmmaking.
Cinemagic is a competitive festival with prizes for:
* Best Feature and Best Short Film for a Teenage Audience- judged by a jury of young people aged 15-18
*Best Feature and Best Short Film for a Children’s Audience-judged by a jury of young people aged 8-14
Films made within the years 2005 – 2007 are eligible for competition. We are interested in all types of films and programmes for children and young people from preschool through to young adult. We can screen 35mm, Beta SP (PAL) and DV cam.
