Horn OK Please : Best Animated Short

horn ok please“Horn OK Please” by Belfast animation company Flickerpix has won “Best Animated Short” in the 2007 IFTA Awards. Horn OK Please is a momentus day in the life of an Indian Taxi Driver who dreams of owning an air conditioned car.

The nine minute animation was a creative collaboration between talent from West India and Northern Ireland. It was animated my Joel Simon and Vaibhav Kumaresh.

The film was shot in high definition using a digital still camera and post production software ‘After Effects’ and ‘Lightwave’ were used to complete the project. The film has already won eight international awards to date.

    hi helen,
    thanks for comment, did not know it was on here.
    About the technique; basically we animated clay models in front of a green screen, shot the images of the clay characters with a NIKON D50 stills camera, transferred them to a pc with a USB cable. We replaced the green screen (on the images) behind the characters with hand drawn backgrounds in Adobe AFTER EFFECTS; and edited the film in Adobe PREMIERE;
    One program we recommend for simple claymation animation is MONKEYJAM, a free software you can get on the net, it works with Windows XP. or try ISTOPMOTION with MAC OSX.
