Make your Mark in Film (Competition)
February 12, 2007
If you are a budding director, producer, light, sound or camera operator, gaffer, wardrobe supervisor, costume designer, make-up artist or location manager then this is your chance to shine.
You’ve got until 26 February to submit your entry (see below for more details) and be in with a chance to be one of ten collaborative film production teams. Each will provide one episode of a film which will be premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival and shown around the UK.
The Make Your Mark in Film project is a great opportunity to get together with fellow film makers and develop your skills. Film is the most collaborative of art forms, so managing people and materials is really important if you want to get a good product at the end. You could even use the project as an opportunity to setup and start a film production business.
To help kick start your creative juices we have put together some elements to make the process feel really special. These include:
- Original script sourced via a national competition
- Celebrity talent to endorse, help and maybe even take part in your production!
- A “shooting kit” - a lot of what you need to get the film ‘in the can’
- Screening the completed series with a 10 city tour
“Film making is the most collaborative art form and needs enterprising people at every stage - it is all about overcoming obstacles and making it happen. I believe this is echoed by the Make Your Mark in Film initiative, it’s a great idea and I look forward to seeing the final series.” (Stewart Till CBE Chairman, UK Film Council and Vice Chair, Skillset).
