Apple TV 2.1 Released

An update is awaiting Apple TV owners, visit the settings option from the main Apple TV interface. It appears to add a Genre section to My Movies and speeds up the user interface. If anyone finds anything else in the update please post it in comments.

In the meantime there has been no mention of a release date for movie purchases or rentals on Apple TV in the UK. A dramatic improvement to the TV offering has been welcomed by most users but it is agreed the Apple TV needs Movies to get the best from the unit.

The Movie rental option will offer the ability to rent Hi Def movies : Rent high-definition movies with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and standard-definition movies from the same place you watch them: your couch. Just click to rent and — if you have a fast broadband connection — start watching in less than a minute. Already have movies on a computer paired with Apple TV? Select My Movies and play them on the big screen.
