Don’t Panic – Transmit
This week we found that our usual FTP application had been upgraded and it was going to cost us $19 to upgrade to the latest intel version. Looking back I had numerous license keys and had upgraded an application that didn’t seem to change that much per upgrade. I decided to break free and try something new.
Panic’s Transit 3 offered a 15 day trail and by day ten I had it bought. Transmit offers a whole new FTP experience, favourite ftp servers is perfect if you manage a number of sites, dash drop allows you to drag files on to the Transmit icon and it even comes with a Transmit Widget !
One of the big sellers for me was the ability to synchronise your favourite ftp servers across the Apple dotmac (.mac) service. This is a great feature if you update sites from a couple of computers. You can ftp directly to your idisk, synchronise folders and much more. To be honest to refer to transmit 3 as an FTP client is really not doing the software justice. This application is a complete file management tool !!!
