Free Apple Motion Templates

Peter Wiggins has released a series of excellent templates for Apple’s Motion application. Motion comes as part of the Final Cut Studio package and has a reasonably steep learning curve. The free templates (outlined below) are a great way to learn Motion as you use it. Peter has asked for readers to submit additional ‘good ideas for templates’ and promises more releases in the future.

Apple Motion Radar Template
Something simple , but effective. Now you can be an old style air traffic controller with this radar screen template. Objects are not limited to text, so you can have clouds, a picture or indeed a complete bomber squadron approaching a target. For the commercially minded you could have sale prices appearing on the screen “Good deals -incoming!” One note here, this is made with Universal Binaries so you will need Motion 2.1.1

Apple Motion Star Wars Template
It is often asked “How do I get that slanty text just like the beginning of Star Wars” Well, here is the answer - A Star Wars slanty text template! All you have to do is enter in the text.

A word of warning here, I’ve used a particle emitter starfield for the background which turns this into a bit of a render monster. Turn this off & do a test render before you hit the button on this 1500 framer. I also recommend using field render to get a smooth motion of the scrolling text.

Animating Dollar Motion Element
Something a bit different, a loopable rotating 3d dollar element for you to include in your Motion project. Its all shiny, reflections and will key automatically as it has an alpha. Download the file & unzip - easy as that. Local ads will never look the same $ Kerching $

!Apple Motion Filmstrip Template
As a result of many posts on bulletin boards asking how to do it, I thought I’d make life easy and post this template of a moving fimstrip. The frames can be images or video and you can add as many extra frames as you wish, I’ve given you three to start. No doubt my ugly mug will be the first to go, but enjoy the template.

Apple Motion Broadcast Clock Template
