Amazon have launched their very own music download service in the UK. Boasting the fact the songs can be played on any mp3 player and in any computer software application makes Amazon, perhaps an attractive offerings. Songs start at 59p and a number of albums are priced at just £3.

Tracks from Amazon MP3 can be played on any MP3-capable device, including iPods, Zunes, Zens, iPhones, RAZRs, BlackBerrys, and most media-enabled mobile phones. The files are free of digital rights management (DRM) software, so you can burn your songs to CDs, play them on all your computers, and transfer them to all your devices.

We were able to get the latest Take That album for just £3.  I did notice the download speed to be a little on slow side compared to the iTunes store. Moving the songs to iTunes wasn’t that difficult but it did involve me double clicking on each song until I spotted there was an option in the preferences to automate this task…

It does seen the Amazon store will give many of the big music download sites a run for their money. Perhaps I have missed a snag somewhere but we are certainly impressed with our experiences so far. With prices more than competitive to iTunes will Amazon be a winner in the digital media world ? Perhaps the addition of film, TV and podcasts make iTunes untouchable ? Tell us what you think below.
