I use EyeTV and Front Row, and the connection between them is almost seemless. I can use the Apple Remote to move between both applications.

I don't know about Plex...

I didn't use the Apple Remote but a demo unit of the logitech all in one controllers. I agree the big issue with using the mac mini is moving between Plex and EyeTV.

One work around is to add EyeTV as an application in Plex and you can then open EyeTV from Plex the problem then is getting back to Plex once you have finished with EyeTV. You also don't want to exit EyeTV as this will result on scheduled recordings being missed.

Not too sure of a solution to the problem as yet but I am sure it will come, there is talk of an EyeTV plugin for Plex on the Plex forums too.

I only use the little white Apple Remote, which is perfect for EyeTV and Front Row (I don't use Plex). My family loves it. - The only problem is, it's to easy to forget somewhere in the house...

I've been using a similar setup on my TV in the USA since the release of the initial Intel Mini. That was before AppleTV and I never regret that purchase. Having a Mac on a TV at home is a marvelous thing.

My setup is similar and I used a DVI to HDMI Cable adapter and an HDMI Cable. I also used the audio out jack as the sound source. I own an EyeTV but frankly have never taken the time to install it. There is way too much else to watch online. From Hulu, Megavideo, YouTube to iTunes and more.

It also answers my phone, hangs up on junk calls and even sends family members messages by email. PhoneValet is a must have for a home Mac mini.

Add SecuritySpy and a camera and you can monitor your home from work if the 'alarm' is tripped. It records video and audio if you need proof for the prosecution.

Finally, download Remote Pad to your Mac mini and to your iPhone and you have a fully functional remote control that lets you surf the web from your couch.
