Film Making : The A to Z
April 2, 2007
Sollthars over at FxHome has written an excellent guide for the film making process. Every aspect of film making is a language - camera, light, costumes, acting, pacing, music, locations - similar to our spoken or written languages. It follows certain rules and it gets meaning through a certain combination of elements, and changes it’s meaning if these elements are switched or changed.
Always remember: These rules are guidelines to help make your movies more “professional” and easier and more pleasant to watch for your audience. If you know why, you can break them - but you need to know them first in order to break them.
