Into the Wild Video

July 5, 2008

We have added the theme song for the award winning “Into the Wild” film on the Moving Image Arts front page (www.digmo.co.uk/mia) The title track “Hard Sun” won best song at the Golden Globes. Eddie Vedder is renowned for his powerful vocal style and intelligent lyrical content fronting Seattle grunge pioneers, Pearl Jam. ‘Into The Wild’, the soundtrack to the Sean Penn directed film of the same name, is Vedder’s debut solo album.

The singer/guitarist ventures away from his usual sound here, producing results influenced by American folk. Acoustic guitars and tambourines combine with electric fuzz to help build a mood of adventure and new beginnings, reflecting thestory of the film, which is based on the book by Jon Krakauer.

In 2007 Eddie Vedder won ‘Best Song’ at the Golden Globes for his work on this soundtrack. Probably one of the most poignant images of the film is to see the actual photograph of Chris McCandless outside Bus 142 as Vedder’s ‘Hard Sun’ plays.
